Certainly, there are people and organizations through time which have contributed to our downfall. I think most Americans are finally wising up to the fact that it's not the Republicans, it's not the Democrats, it's not Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr and, it's not O'Bama. It's all of them! Almost every leader after Thomas Jefferson and some before, at one point made the crucial error that contributes to where we are today.

And while O'Bama appears to have the heaviest foot on the accelerator pedal to our doom, he jumped in the driver's seat while the car was already moving. Ron Paul made a statement to a reporter that "liberty is a package." After some thought on that, I expanded on that to realize that more than a package, liberty was a precious child who's life was saved by the mortal sacrifice of forefathers who gave their lives in hopes that we would take care of this child.

But like a human child, we parents can not choose which part to raise. We can't tickle him to hear that uplifting giggle, but not change his diaper. We can't play ball with him and ignore feeding him. The child, Liberty is a package. You have to take the good with the bad. The liberty to control your own health care means we also have to stop the drug war. To have freedom on the internet, we can't ban pornography. But like a child, there's so much more good than bad. And like a child, the future potential is almost limitless. It is the potential of Liberty realized that built America and what we were. And now, it is Liberty whored that leaves us so powerless to change our course. As the saying goes, those who trade liberty for security shall have neither.

And this, is where we made our first and biggest mistake. The day we started selling off Liberty, was the beginning of the end. Our government would not be as huge and out of control as it is today, if we had not started giving our Liberty to it in the days before. Everything that is wrong with government today can be drawn back to some point where a Liberty lost allowed this to occur. Every time we make our government stronger, we grow weaker. This is because the power of our government over us comes from us. The more of that power we give it by selling off our liberties, the less power we have. The very first time we allowed our Liberty to be compromised, in the least way, was the very beginning of what we have today.

There was a happy medium. A time when government was powerful enough to protect us, but weak enough to respect us and serve us. But because there wasn't a sufficient regulator on the growth and size of government, it soon became its own creature, fulfilling its own needs and desires without regard to us. And now, like a cancer that eventually kills the body that gives it life, government, without restraint, will not stop growing until it is too late and the once great America ceases to be a contender on the world stage.

Of course, hope still lies in the fact that government is made of people. But there are too many people who will take part in government for their own benefit regardless of the harm it does to the rest of us. These are usually politicians who accept graft or are shallow thinkers.

In the stage of contenders for the office of the President in 2012, I know of only one man who has respected the people, their constitution and followed through on his words and beliefs. Only one man who has fought to deliver the same message to Americans for over 20 years, Liberty must be restored. Who doesn't vote with his heart, but votes with the constitution though sometimes his heart says otherwise. Who does not bend to suit his audience or peers. Who knows how to compromise in politics, but has never compromised the constitution. And, the only man I trust to save this country.

Every election cycle, too many Americans are charmed by a pretty face, believe all the words that come out its mouth, and cast their votes for it. For some reason, they don't stop to look and see what that person has really done for the people and how steadfast he is. They fail to realize that the best leader we could have, is someone who believes in the constitution and lives by it and doesn't not consider himself above the people. That person is boring, delivering the same correct but boring parental lecture year after year, to the same deaf ears. So who wants that guy? Just because he's humble but really intelligent, right and honorable and has more integrity than the entire Congress combined? Who wants to vote for that guy? Someone who news agencies seek out for opinions whenever the economy swoons because he's more knowledgeable about the economy than anyone else in government? He, whose name shall not be mentioned because it incites fear in the ignorant and the status quo? Yeah, who wants to vote for that guy? I did before and I'll do it again. If you don't know who I'm talking about now, then you're a victim of media bias. He popularized the term "creative destruction" in economics - thank you Wikipedia.

Dr. Richard E. Hattwick referred to Schumpter saying, "Business ethics is an important subject. It is important to individuals acting in their economic roles because living up to one's ethical ideals is an important dimension of one's self image. It is important in terms of the survival potential of an economic system because, as Schumpeter suggested many years ago, an economic system that is perceived as morally wrong, is doomed to ultimate demise."

It's interesting to note here that Schumpter was a student of Austrian economics. Clearly, one of the few and possibly the only person in all of congress who has a grasp of what is going on with the economy is Dr. Ron Paul - who was also a student of Austrian economics. It's amusing now to see the media who once shunned Paul as a lunatic to consult with him on matters of the economy more than any other politician.

Dr. Paul also has an incredible record of integrity in Congress with consistent principle, reasoning and policy for almost all of his voting activities. As Dr. Paul has said many times over, the government's meddling into the economy, providing bailouts and desperate regulations at an almost incalculable cost, is interfering with what could be a much swifter recovery of the economy. And although Paul has noted that the government's actions are inequitable and wrong in principle, to the best of my knowledge, he's not yet made the leap back to Schumpter's conclusion above.

Today many people see the inequity and moral upset of one person who over spent and did not take their finances responsibly being rewarded by the new system of bail outs and hand holding the government has adopted of late. While, hard working, smart thinking and forward planning people are forced to slug through the mud of the current day situations with no relief or assistance. The perception is that our economy has become a lottery and skill, hard work or responsibility have little to do with success or... morally wrong.

Let's hope Schumpter was incorrect or overlooked a turnabout. One thing is for sure, a turnabout is exactly what we need. The people who drive this economy, the producers, creators, entrepreneurs and hard working people are having their spirit broken by this upside down math. 2010 is the time to change this. Politicians who support this upside down math are the destroyers. Make sure they're out in 2010.

Our Combat Troops: Use 'em, abuse 'em and put 'em on the list.

Our armed citizenry is ULTIMATELY what keeps us safe from invasion on our home soil (provided the second amendment is still around if it ever happens). But before that, it's our military that keeps us safe from the larger powers that could glaze our cities. I have the utmost respect for these people who risk their lives following orders whether legitimately or under the guise that they're protecting America. Who can fault that? These are our people who sacrifice and spill their blood for what they believe is the good of the country. They are the ones who deserve the very best treatment we can give them when they return, regardless of whether we supported the cause they fought in.

And yet, it's our government that disgraces the honor, courage and sacrifice they make. We've all heard the stories and seen the reports of how the troops are shorted of supplies and sometimes absolutely necessary war items. And yet, our government continues to allow budgets for less important things than protecting the lives of our soldiers. We've seen the reports and heard the stories of how long some have waited for medical care or received poor medical care. We've heard and seen the instances of fallen soldiers families who have lost benefits, not been recognized, or been left in the cold. We've seen how the military is used as a pawn to create distractions during political scandals and divert the public's attention from pressing matters at home that are politically unpopular. Finally, we all know how our government is now hiring mercenaries (i.e. Black Water) to carry out tasks that would be unbecoming of our military or without the same culpability.

Now I know there are the government's weather balloon explanations for everyone of these claims I've made which is why I didn't bother to find references and cite them. The simple fact is that for years, it has walked like a duck and quacked like a duck so I'm just going to call it a duck and expect it to continue acting like one. I hope the metaphor isn't lost on younger readers.

I have a dear friend who holds a high rank in our military and has served for several decades plus. He recently came back from yet another tour of Iraq. He was sent out under Bush and came back under Obama. He originally volunteered for the mission. However, after he volunteered, he was pushed way past his supposed date of return and subsequently lost some of his life's earnings here. Certainly, he is more fortunate than some who lost limb or life, but it's still not right.

I asked him, "what does your branch of the military think of O'Bama?" He answered, "I'm not permitted to speak about our commander in chief that way." He then went on to tell me something that just about made me vomit, "I will tell you something that has many of us very upset and myself included. They (government) are worried the returning Vets could become terrorists. They have a list of disgruntled vets who they are watching because they suspect they may become terrorists. With as many vets as are disgruntled right now, that would put over half on that list."

Wow. This LIST SHIT HAS GONE TOO FAR! The very men we train, ask for sacrifice, send away to suffer god knows what for causes that often can no longer be justified are, by the very virtue of their training, now on a terrorist watch list! It's disgusting, vile and from our own government. It's more "Minority Report" mentality again, from the Department of Homeland Securities Intelligence Analysts office. And our officials just don't know when to stop!

In all honesty, their analysis maybe correct. But, to destroy the honor of these fine people and make their lives any more difficult back at home because a few may crack is like putting all of us on the sex offenders list because a few of us may molest children! This IS INSANITY! I think it just goes to show that the people in high offices have long lost the ability to connect with the real world. They consider themselves a higher form of life when actually, they're lower.

Here's another distortion of equity. Rape victims receive special treatment and coddling. We're taught rape is a heinous crime, right up there with murder. Rape destroys the victim. They're plagued with nightmares and have a hard time functioning in society. Or so the worst of them do. It's these symptoms that we overflow with sympathy for. Do these symptoms sound familiar?

They do to me. They sound like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms. We recruit, train and deploy our 18 year old children and send them on missions that in many situations result in the equivalent fate for them as rape. Just try to reconcile that in your mind. If your daughter were raped, you would go insane with rage. Yet, you might let her join our military, train, go on a mission where she would see and experience killing, unspeakable brutality, maybe tortured and then suffer all the same mental torture for the rest of her life as if she had been raped! Yet, we have more compassion for rape victims here at home than the countless men and women of our military who have suffered worse in battlefields.

Like everything else in our culture lately, it's upside down, priorities have been inverted. When forced to chose between the life of a newborn and the life of an 18 year old, we choose to protect the life of newborn because it's innocent and cute. Yet, the 18 year old has had 18 years of parental blood, sweat and money invested in him, not to mention the investment of our community through support and education plus all the animals that gave their lives to feed him. Now at 18, finally fully prepared to start to realize the value of that investment, most mothers would still send that one off to war to protect the newborn. Because, the newborn could be the next Einstein? How about the next Hitler? It's ludicrous.

What's the solution here? First, we have to get our priorities right again. Second, we have to stop the paranoia and fear factories. We have to stop listening to the paranoia and fear factories. These include our media and now our government. Both enterprises cash in big on the fear pills they sell us plus the control it gives them over us. Right or left, if it's selling fear based on no formal statistics or histories, it needs to be really questioned as something actionable.

It's TIME for MODERNIZATION of LAW MAKING!

Watching the fiasco with bail outs, the stimulus package and now health care, it should be apparent to every American that our Legal system is grossly corrupted, inept and out of date.

When you talk to people about what the current legislation proposed for health care is, no one even knows. They don't know because 1. it's changeable in the process (a moving target), 2. they've not read it (lazy, incompetent or too laden with pork to get through and comprehend), 3. they never got a chance to read it (its been purposely guarded or cloaked in order to push through special interest riders).

The problem we have allowed to grow is that we don't look at the work of our politicians, rather, we find it easier to believe what they tell us. I think politicians should be required (by public expectations) to draft all the legislation they're going to supposedly propose when they get into office before they get elected. And, that alone is exposed to the masses to vote on. Not, what he looks like, how he speaks, how many kids he has or what church he attends. These are all things that can be made into props and frequently are.

But an even better solution would be if all Bills could be scrutinized by the public or.. even written! We have the technology to make everything sensible, simple, common, fair and OPEN! It's called... WIKI. That's right - how about drafting legislation through the Wiki process? No more problems with access, input, openness and so on. The public has already demonstrated it's ability draft a complete encyclopedia. Could congress do that and get it's facts right???

Well, although I did conceive this idea myself, others have as well. So maybe I'm not as crazy as you think - here are few more:
Wiki Legislation Builder
Extreme Democracy

How your City or State can raise lots of money fast!

Want to fix the nation? We can't (us, the common men and women). Well, not directly. We've pushed power so far away from us for so many years now that it's too far and too big for any of us independently to have an effect on. But, we do have power locally. And, if we change how we manage things locally, eventually that philosophy will spread and may ultimately affect the rest of the country.

Question: Which counted more? Your vote in the presidential election or your vote in your state's congressional district? Your vote in your state's congressional district or your vote in your county? Your vote in your county or your vote in your city? It's funny, in politics, we seem to worry the most about what we can affect the least. Most busy people take a little time to study national politics but know almost nothing about their local politics. Yet, it's their local politics they can affect the most. If we start paying attention to our local politics and issues and getting involved there first, we can make a difference.

Since I live in Nevada, let's talk about Nevada for a moment. The city of Las Vegas has NOTHING to offer except a couple of simple things. One - it allows gaming. Two - it's in a state which has no income taxes. Other than that, compared with other states, you have mostly nothing but sand and heat. Las Vegas was a city that had almost no growth until gangsters got hold of it and established a "anything goes" reputation and lifestyle. As a get away for people who needed an adult scale break, Las Vegas grew and grew and grew. Las Vegas has now gone from a gaming mecca to an adult Disneyland on steroids. But the city is now much more now than just a destination. Businesses lured by low taxes, less regulations, simple business requirements and fair employment rules have flocked to Nevada's major cities at an almost choking pace.

With this influx of people and businesses, which primarily came from California, came their laws and ideas about how to run a state (run it into the ground). Nevada is now seriously considering enacting a payroll tax. Our governor, Jim Gibbons, who is one of the few governors with enough balls to say NO to all the ignorant state agency crybabies screaming for more money, has been beat down by the equally ignorant media for doing the right thing. Then to further his plight, steamrolled by our newly liberal legislature which has now pushed through an encyclopedia set like volume of new laws and money grubbing regulations despite his vetoes.

I originally titled this piece, "Taxes + more regulations + loss of freedoms = 0". But I thought this idea may actually inspire some cities that are close to death so I changed it in hopes that it might catch the eye of someone in power. Fact, all humans want to live where life is easy. Businesses are no different. What things can change in Nevada's policies to make life easier and business easier? Let's face it, if life is easy and business is easy, compared to everywhere else, it would be like a gold rush here. Think about this for a moment.

Do higher taxes make lives easier or business easier? Does more regulation make life easier or business easier? Do more laws make life easier or business easier? If a dieing town wanted to raise money to make improvements, what would happen if, instead of raising taxes (eating itself) it did something completely out-of-the box. If it auctioned off a city block that had a 10 year contract permitting any type of legal business operating on that block to be taxed at a lower rate (or none) and guaranteed less or no interference from inspectors, etc. and no licensing or reporting requirements? Of course, the town can only limit taxes and regulations for that block that are within it's control. It can not reduce state or federal taxes, etc. But, how much would that city block be worth compared to any other city block without this contract if it were auctioned off? And, what if a city block could be actually free if from local, state and federal taxes? Freed from local, state and federal regulations? How much would it be worth then? The final auction price would be astronomical! This parcel could be in the crappiest part of town - it wouldn't matter. It doesn't even need to be land - it can be just the contract, to be assigned to land. A contract of non-intervention.

Of course there are the arguments that crime would run rampant, safety would be nonexistent and the site would probably be toxic and have a 5000 year radioactive half-life. Those are the fear mongering arguments. Those arguments could actually be applied to places like Mexico, Brazil and China. Yet, millions of tourists visit those countries every year without any such realizations. Tthere was a time not too long ago here in Nevada when Casino security was trusted as much as the city police. Thus, the city police force did not need to be as large, as costly or as overbearing.

I don't think that anyone would argue that this mythical city block would be bought by a business - if anything because they have the most money to bid. If the business wanted to realize the value of the proposition, it knows that people will have to go there, be it employees and possibly customers. Thus it must be attractive to those groups. To make money, it has to do business with the outside world so it has to at least be civil with it's neighbors or it won't receive vital services like phone, data, water and power. What would that city block be.. worth....? How many more city blocks could you sell like that one before the value started to come down due to an abundance of the opportunity?

If you think this is a completely impossible feat, then ask yourself, "how can we create deals like this for the Indians (reservations) and not ourselves?"

The next question is, what would the city then do with that money? :)

One simple law to fix the entire economy.

It couldn't be easier. This proves that government WANTS our economy to dive. If this one simple law were passed, it would fix the economy in less than a year. It would pass with ease as it would be very popular with government employees. Are you ready? Here it is: Pass a law adding 90 new government holidays to calendar. That would give the rest of us an additional 90 days of relief from their meddling and insane legislation. Imagine - 90 whole days of productivity added to the each calendar year! It maybe enough for the rest of us to catch up and fix this mess they've made. After all, legislatures don't work on government holidays. Most government agencies are closed on government holidays. The rest of us usually still work and carry on. Who wouldn't vote for that?

OK, that one's a serious solution but it may not seem to most like a serious answer to drive for. But you have to ask yourself this: almost everyone in America knows that small business employs about 70% of all Americans. Why, isn't there a major segment of the "stimulus plan" dedicated to stimulating small businesses? For example, a $25,000 start up grant. 0% loans? This is the absolute BEST place to stimulate the economy. But, you'll never see it happen. Again, ask yourself why. There's only two possible answers. 1. They don't really want it to happen or don't care. 2. They're just that stupid.

Are there any more possible reasons I'm missing?

My gift to Americans in a dull workplace.

My wife recently complained to me that a few people in her workplace filed or threatened to file harassment complaints for a few off hand comments made by her coworkers. Now, the once happy and verbal group sits guarded, droning through their days... I authored this document for her to begin a "grassroots" campaign in her workplace. It may divide the company. But maybe the company needs to be divided between those who work hard and want to have fun and those who want to live in a candy shell. If anyone else can make use of it in your place, please - USE IT! Special thanks to Rod for inspiring me to post this. This is the header of the roll. The actual .PDF form can be downloaded here. Shortly after sharing this with another friend who is famous for his timely frankness and succinctness, he rewrote it. If you prefer a shorter and more direct version without so much legalese, you can download that version here.

Good Spirits Association Membership Roll
In order to provide a working environment each of us can feel safe in and enjoy, we the members of the Good Spirits Association, recognize that certain laws have come to pass which are detrimental to a healthy and fun work environment. These laws specifically pertain to conduct in the workplace regarding spoken words of a age, health, sexual, racial or religious nature. We consider these laws to be far overreaching and thus a negative and detrimental force in our work environment by allowing individuals who may feel hurt, angry or vengeful at times to abuse these laws and cause each other and/or our employer undue stress and harm. We prefer to instead to handle these issues interpersonally and by discussion only. Therefore, we, the undersigned, each individually, under no persuasion or coercion freely desire and accept that we are members of the Good Spirits Association and thereby together and individually agree to and declare the following:
By signing this Roll, we each are a member of this Association. We acknowledge that The Good Spirits Association requires nothing and serves no purpose other than to recognize and collect those of us who by signing this roll, hereby publically waive all rights of protection granted to us under Federal, State, County and City laws and codes which allow us each to file claims or sue one another or our employer, through administrative or legal courses, for any verbal violations of conduct under any such scope of law whether the nature of those spoken words pertain to age, health, racial, sexual or religious subjects and be considered “harassing”. As adults, we recognize our common rights of choice to enjoy, endure, ignore or challenge such verbal comments among ourselves as sufficient means and thus a healthier choice for us each to enjoy each other and our workplace environment. Should any conversation lead to harmful physical action, the appropriate laws are already in place to address those physical actions and such laws are not waived by any member.

To join, a desiring member need merely sign the “Agreed” column with a member witness and date. Two non members may agree at the same time and be each other's witness. Each member may freely withdraw from this agreement at anytime by signing and dating in the “Withdraw” column in line with their originally signed “Agreed” column entry. This roll is to be placed in public view.

Printed Name
Signed
Witness
Date
Withdraw
Date

Now who's the richest man in the world?

You may have heard that Warren Buffet recently surpassed Bill Gates again as being the richest man in the world. But, the media missed an even bigger event. Completely without warning, without notice or prediction another man has completely eclipsed Warren Buffet by almost 10 times - maybe more! You may have heard his name - Henry Paulson.

Henry Paulson made his wealth rapidly by happening to be at the right place at the right time. In less than a week, Henry Paulson hit the greatest lottery of all time! $700 BILLION DOLLARS! That's right - congress gave Mr. Paulson your money and your children's money to spend almost as he pleases. While he can't put a Billion in his back pocket, there's nothing to stop him from making all kinds of new friends and swaddling old ones who will make sure he benefits from his handouts somehow.

If you don't think that's possible, just check your congressmen and state leaders. Great plan. But wait, it gets better.

So, up until this point, congress's main control over the executive branch was through finance. If the executive branch wants to do something that costs money it has to either ask congress or sponsor a black ops mission that sells arms or drugs to raise the money covertly. Now, congress just gave the executive branch $700 Billion - almost an entire years budget free and clear. The executive branch won't have to ask congress for anything until it runs out of money again! It can do almost anything it wants. SWEET! Good plan. Ron Paul, please save us all.

Excuse me, I voted.

Campaign reform? How about let's start with voter reform! So now, O'Bama is president. No surprise. But, because I voted FOR someone instead of AGAINST someone like many of you did, I don't have to lie or feel uncomfortable when a staunch OBama supporter asks me "did you vote for OBama?" I can say "well, I didn't vote for McCain, but I did vote." And if a former McCain supporter asks me similar I can say, "well, I didn't vote for O'Bama, but I did vote." I learned a great lesson this election and never again will I let fear control my vote. If you have to vote against someone instead of for someone, you're letting fear control your vote. You can usually find someone to vote for, it's just likely they're not going to win.

For some reason, we've decided we need to vote for winners rather than who we think is right. That's more like sports betting than the voting this country needs. Funny thing is, the media now handles elections like they're sporting events - did you notice that? The party leadership tells us who those "winners" are. And there ya go. So, I say we need voter reform. Start voting the way your vote was intended to count - for someone, not against someone. Find the candidate who you like and support him - regardless of his chances. If we all voted by this principle, our government would be much different - much better.

Now, will OBama bring us the "change" so many of us are hoping for? When was the last time we had a president who really delivered on his campaign promises? For those of you who are afraid OBama will deliver on those promises - fear not. Only a fraction may ever see the light of day. For those of you who are counting on those promises to come true - don't hold your breath.

OBama or McCain - who's worth my vote?

Don't know who to vote for? All that effort, listening, reading, watching debates? Let me solve this issue for you easily.

Remember that the positives AND THE NEGATIVES generated by both campaigns are simply campaign propaganda from two corrupted parties. We now know from the events that have unfolded this year, that the Republican party is just as corrupt as the Democratic, if not more so. We've seen how any members of these parties who are not corrupt are treated by their party. When two corrupted parties select their candidates, what does that tell you about the candidates? Yep, they are the most likely to obey the party dictates and that is all the party is concerned about.

Therefore, what those candidates say or propose in order to get elected IS MEANINGLESS! You're simply voting on who's lie you like better or who doesn't scare you as much. It's doesn't matter whether they're socialistic leaning or conservative leaning. It doesn't matter whether they're smart or dumb. It doesn't matter whether they're pretty and eloquent or not. Because, once they sit in that office, they're just going to do what they're told to do by the entities that play both parties like a violin anyway.

The one thing neither candidate has done is back up their "plan" with a commitment. Without a commitment, they're plans are no more than part of their campaign scripts which will vanish once the campaign is over. Remember old "READ MY LIPS"? The best crafted plans will die in the house, as planned, unless there is a binding commitment with real teeth behind it. Otherwise, it's all part of the show.

I truly suggest everyone avoid getting wrapped up in this scripted soap opera that has become our presidential election process and head Ron Paul's advice. At least vote for someone from a party not proven corrupt. Keep your focus local and use that energy to pay attention and be involved with who is elected into positions here locally. This is where we actually have power and the results of our efforts will pay off, ultimately benefitting the nation as well.

No jobs at hand, except hand jobs.

A friend just emailed me a link to an article stating that the beloved "Vise-Grip" is ceasing production in Nebraska and going - guess where... Funny huh? Yeah, the Federal government manages to spend almost $1 Trillion in Iraq and now, $700 Billion or more bailing out multinational banks but a simple tax break for small USA manufacturers? Nope.

Well, the multiple bubble bursts has caused a lot of bubble surfing companies to shrink or vanish thus doing the same with their associated employment slots. But what about the underlying cause of the diminishing availability of middle class jobs that was happening well before this? The answer is simple. To trade, you have to have something to trade. In order to have something to trade, you have to produce. Where has production gone? You already know. But in case you wanted to know what was said about 8 years ago and 9 steps to fixing the economy, check this out:
The China Eclipse.
It's remarkable how time proves truths.

McCain, Obama, the same, more drama.

It costs something like $100 million dollars to buy a shot at the white house. Neither McCain or OBama have that kind of wealth to risk. So, somebody has to anti-up. Those somebodies are due an awful lot of favors when their boy gets into office. The smartest of those somebodies know the way to be sure you get the favors you need is to invest in both guys. There are a lot of those smart ones. Thus, both OBama and McCain have a lot of common favors that are due. This is why a two party system works so well! If it were a four or more party system, the cost would be twice or more times as much to make sure your bases were covered and you got your needed favors. And, a one party system just doesn't give the illusion of fairness.

OK, so we have a system that works well for corruption and cronyism. But what we need is one that doesn't. The main problem is that people have been trained to seek the advice of a few simple media outlets. People are lazy and the media that takes the least effort to absorb and provides the most entertainment is the most popular media. And, those media outlets ultimately profit from the expenses of campaigns and are owned by huge conglomerates who also get "favors" from their political investments.

The internet has opened a vast number of new channels which are outside of the control of the primary media providers. Thus, quite a few more candidates made it farther in this race than before. But still, the system in place won and will continue to win. What happened to Ron Paul is perfect example of such. And, most people would never devote the time and effort necessary to uncover and absorb the real story - it's easier to believe what the main media outlets are willing to say.

As with all else, the best way to be fully aware and qualified to make the decisions you as a voter must make is for those decisions to be in the context of your daily life and local to you. That way, you're much better informed and aware when you make those decision. This is why more local control is better because you then have more control over the issues that affect you. Yet, being lazy, it's easier to foist our issues and their decisions onto someone else who is ultimately farther away and cares less but can easily see what's in it for him. And through the years we've done this to the point that the Federal government is the size that it is and is as invasive as it is.

If you vote Democrat or Republican Party for Party sake, your perpetuating the problem, regardless of what fears those parties have used to stir you with. Think about it - what do they always say? What are they the most afraid of? They're afraid you'll "throw your vote away." What they're really afraid of is that they'll lose control. Don't be a coward, vote for someone who's outside of the two puppet parties. No one office controls the government. If you accidentally put an ape into office, not much will change. But, putting an ape into office will upset the two party corruption machine if you do it enough.

Vote for John McCain OR ELSE!!!

A good friend sent me a op-ed piece that said, in a nutshell, if we don't all vote for John McCain, Iran will end up selling nukes to terrorists and little mushrooms will start popping up all across America.

To that I said:

Interesting yes, but the principle is wrong. Basically, fear is still being used to make us choose who to vote for. Now could we solve the fear problem another way? The current bounty for Osama Bin Laden is $50 million dollars. How many “BILLIONS” have we spent looking for him? If the bounty were $1 Billion dollars, could he hide? And if he couldn’t, how much would that have saved us in lives and the near 1 TRILLION dollars of expense from it all? If we simply offered a $1 Billion Dollar bounty on any entity responsible for causing an event that results in the loss of more than 500 lives, who could hide?

I think there is a tragic loss in efficiency when cash is converted into military action for the purpose of accomplishing change. If the cash was simply used to make the change, how many times would this have proven cheaper in time, cost and lives? Imagine how quickly the problems in Vietnam could have been solved with the proper application of a fraction of the cash that our military action actually cost. Also, any leader who goes through the trouble to develop nuclear weapons and then decides to wholesale them terrorists just debased his own power he fought to get. I think most corrupt leaders will figure that out before they get there.

I still plan on voting for Bob Barr myself, unless Ron Paul magically appears on the ballot. There will always be a big scare that can be used against the voter, always. Time to quit being afraid and do what's right. If you're afraid, you're just a tool for someone who controls the fear.

He responded, "well I just might encourage a terrorist to do something if I know I could rat him out later". To that I say, yes, and if I was the terrorist, I just might kill you first knowing that you might rat me out later.

Bounties are very successful, look at the "X Prizes" which are awarded for ingenuity and ground breaking accomplishments. Before we had a cop on every corner, we had bounties and we still do. It's an old idea whose time has come and remains.

Think about it folks. The US military is good at war. But whatever label you put on the "war against terrorism", it's not a real war - that's just a metaphor. And, if it's not a real war, then using the US military to deal with it is simply using the wrong tool for the job. A bounty creates an army of entrepreneurs and it's also a deterrent for the bad guys. And, guess what, a bounty doesn't cost ANYTHING until the task is accomplished! Now who's better at getting a job done for the least amount of money in the quickest time possible, the US government or entrepreneurs?

Is EBay influencing CraigsList?

Well, it sure wouldn't surprise me EBay holds a significant ownership of it. And even if the purchase was crafted so that EBay had little power, they'll always have lobbying power. Of course, the point is mute now that CraigsList is suing EBay. I realize this may seem like it's not a "USA Problem" that needs to be solved. But actually it is.

It's a USA disease to seek a fanatic level of protection from every possibility. That's why you can go to Mexico and snorkel through lava tubes and witness their darkly lit, sharp edges and pristine natural beauty without restricted areas, hand rails, safety nets or rubber bumpers. But, you couldn't do it here. It's why you get on a boat there, go to the second level which may be nothing more than a roof with a 8" high rail and enjoy a beer without someone chasing you down, insurance waivers, safety harnesses. It's why we don't have the variety of fuel efficient automobiles available here that are in many other parts of the world. Basically, it's because we think we need to be nannied from cradle to grave and we constantly introduce everything from play rules to legislation to embody it. Because... NO ONE WANTS TO GET SUED RIGHT???

Back to Craigslist. Craigslist has been a sanctuary site for much of the commerce and activities that the prim and proper (or PC) of our society despise, those who would rather force the rest of us to not have any choice. EBay has succeed at failing much in the last 4 years because it has rolled to the whim of every cry baby - guns, animal furs, dates with models, pirated goods, fraud, pyrotechnics, insulting art. Its goods are now a collection of what the directors of EBay subjectively allow and try to enforced by their erroneous software or the simple accusation of someone unknown, with no appeal or courtesy. They have forgotten that their customer is the seller and not the buyer. They are ripe for a competitor to steal their show.

Craigslist has resisted the temptation to snatch a penny for of every pixel, they've resisted the temptation to constantly evolve their software to a nanny with no sense or remorse. And, they've resisted the temptation to apply vast morals and precautions to their site, like EBay, until very recently.

These two comments posted by users regarding CraigsList new phone verification policy embody the balance of the argument in this post.

"

Raelene Says:
May 1st, 2008 at 1:00 pm
I can not tell you how fantastic it is that Craigslist is taking steps to prevent humantrafficking for sexual slavery on it’s web sites. Thank you.

I look forward to reading more.

       Thomas Says:
May 15th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Oh gawd please… many people have made more of a legitimate business out of what should already be a legitimate business (as it is a victimless crime) thanks to Craigslist. But now, those who are on the edge are forced off into what maybe real crimes with real victims and far more dangers. Those people FAR outnumber the few unfortunate individuals who may actually be victims of human trafficking here in the USA. I realize some of you may think the heinousness of a crime somehow increases its statistics of occurrence but it doesn’t, only the fear factor increases which makes it easier to control the minds of those who do not have perspective.

One way to kill freedom of speech, free expression and experimentation is to remove the possibility of anonymity. It’s a slippery slope Craigslist has stepped on, soon all categories will have some sobbing mother’s reason why they need verification.

I would suggest CL implement a statement on each ad as to whether a posting is verified or not and let the viewer decide then if they wish to partake of the ad’s contents.

"

Well, sure enough, the second poster's comment is already coming to reality. The blog from CraigsList announced the phone verification would be for "Erotic Services". However, it is now required for many other categories. Did EBay pass it's disease onto Craigslist before they parted? I hope not.

People on Craigslist have become savvy and know how to protect themselves against much fraud and how to change the channel when something offends them. Now craigslist is taking that responsibility on, leaving us to their rose glasses and sterile bubbles. New users will forever be marks for those who continually defy Criagslist attempts to protect them and weakness and stupidity will breed among its users until, Craigslist is the censor, police, judge and executioner for everyone and once again, it will forget who its customers are.

Well, lets hope not. Of course, the solution to this all is tort reform. :)

The Zealot Witch Project. Child Sex hysteria.

Kitty Porn, Kiddie Pron, child formography and all the correct spellings. Folks, welcome to the modern day witch hunt. Where, yes, by simply clicking on a link to website sponsored by the FBI (which has no actual illegal content) you can get the treat of being pulled out of your house at 7:00am, thrown on the ground and hand cuffed. And then, of course, if they find ANYTHING, not only are you screwed right there on the ground but the rest of your life is destroyed. This is thought police pure and simple ala Minority Report.

Child pornography is a HUGE HUGE HUGE problem. Consider that Operation ORE,
a large scale international police effort to indict website users of Child Pornography since 1999 has netted 7,250 suspect, 4,283 homes searched, 3,744 arrests, 1,848 charged, 1,451 convictions, 493 cautioned, 879 investigations underway, 140 children removed from suspected dangerous situations and at least 35 suicides. That's 1,451 convictions on a planet of almost 6 Billion people or 0.00000024%, 1 in 4 million. . Certainly, it's well worth the extraordinary expense and time, the changing legislation and pursuing with prejudice.

Why do we let this happen? Some of you may think that the end results justify the means. Child sex crimes are deplorable, worse than murder itself. Why? Because most of the victims of childhood sex abuse are so scared from the event that they would rather have been killed than survive to adulthood and enjoyed life. Their lives are destroyed, they commit crimes and hurt people for the rest of their lives making them complete liabilities for society and an utter waste of sympathy by the time their lives have run their course. Obviously this crime is worthy of the death penalty. It's justified. The victims have no life left, it's been taken from them. They can not enjoy the sunshine, a smile on their mother's face, none of them have the desire to have children and know the joy of parenting. They can no longer achieve anything of value and so there is no further appreciation for life. Euthanasia appeals to them and they want to die alone. Or so I've heard. Although, I've known quite a few people who were the "victims" of childhood sexual abuse (at least as the law defines it). Not one of them I know of suffers from these stereotypes but maybe I know all those who are the exceptions to the above. Don't take my sarcasm the wrong way. Child abuse is deplorable, whether it's sexual or otherwise. It's our definition of abuse that has gotten WAY beyond sensible and effective.

But, if you still think the laws and the zealot enforcement of them is justified, well then, we are no longer a nation of laws. We have become a nation of suspicion. We speculate as to who will break the law and then punish them before any crime is ever committed. This has happened before in the history of our country: the Salem Witch Trials, WWII Japanese Internment Camps, and others throughout history. And, hot on the tail of this latest fad of enforcement and hysteria is the whole terrorism show. But that's another rant for another day.

We are so sensitive to the crime of child sexual abuse that we have elevated the priority of punishment of that crime above all others including murder and even mass murder. If you look at the sentencing and time served of people who have had sexual relationships with children, it is often harsher than those of murderers. And, the treatment of those who are sentenced, once in prison, is harsher by their own piers. Furthermore, there is lifelong persecution thereafter once a long time has been served by being identified forever on a public sex offender's list and having to register every time you move. This is insanity! Where is the equity in punishment? I was raised with the traditional rules of morality and murder was the highest crime. Now, child pornography, child sex, drugs, and terrorism all seem to rate higher if you go by the level of punishment.

Here's how far it's gone. If you draw a picture suggesting sex with a minor, in the law's eye you're a sex offender and you've broken the law. But, you can produce and sell a whole video game where you run simulations of committing mass murder in an elementary school with a assault rifle and that's entertainment.

If my child (and I have three) is in a dark alley alone and I had to chose if the stranger in front of her is a sex offender or a serial killer, sorry folks, maybe I'm twisted here, but I'm choosing the sex offender. Because I value her life more than her virginity. The idea of the loss of the later is revolting and turns my stomach. But the loss of her forever? I would never get over that. That could destroy me.

Furthermore, the definition of a murderer is crystal clear compared to that of a sex offender. To be a murderer, someone has to die (uh - gee, it has a victim???). To be a sex offender, you could be anything from someone who pissed on the street to someone who downloaded naughty child images to someone who had sex with a 15yo when you were 17 or actually assaulted to someone who raped and maybe even killed children. While the law may treat you differently based on what "tier" of sex offender you are, the general title seems to be treated equally by those who would persecute sex offenders.

Many convicted sex offenders were in consensual circumstances where no one was harmed. And yet, the elder of the couple has had their lives destroyed. It has been proven that minors who are a party in consensual sex have very little if any provable social abnormalities and rarely consider themselves victims.

Intentional or not, legislators and governments are using the hysteria of child related sex crimes to steal our liberties and gain control of lives - many laws have been enacted to curtail or punish the use of the internet when related to these activities. But these enforcement facilities go well beyond the scope of what is necessary to do the job, allowing their utility to be explored and its power to be abused in other areas.

Fad hysterias which come and go through the ages are ultimately the tools of those in power and nearly always hurt society by creating chaos of otherwise sensible moral priorities in our society. Child molestation and sex offender laws are the example of the day. Our irrational reaction to these crimes has, unchecked, allowed for some of the most excessive punishments and broad definitions of criminal acts to infect our justice system. The cost, not only in terms of dollars but in innocent soles is just not worth the benefit of being able to make life more difficult than it already was for hard core offenders. Assault and Murder are still the worst crimes, we shouldn't dilute that by letting our emotions change the legislation that was put in place to reflect that.

Added 01-14-2009 It takes a study to prove hysteria- NYT

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://usaproblemsolver.blogspot.com/2008/03/zealot-witch-project-child-sex-hysteria.html' title='The Zealot Witch Project. As was pointed out by a very astute gentleman on from the FreeStateProject.org, there are many people who have just learned of Dr. Ron Paul and are heavily invested in him. If he loses, they will be burned out and walk away from politics and refuse to get involved in the future. It is very important for us all to remember that Dr. Ron Paul's greatest contribution to us all and his victory is that he has set an example and provided a platform for people to see and understand how many Libertarian principles could save our country. And, that these ideas require the responsibility of everyone to stay educated, involved and self governing. Those three points must persist, even if Dr. Paul does not. And, those three points will help us find success, if even through another path. We will still need libertarian thinking Congressmen, Senators, judges, state and local leaders to truely restore freedom and greatness that founded America.

One doctor can heal our country better than 100 attorneys.

Dr. Paul is one of the few politicians who's credentials show both his intelligence, and where his heart is. Whereas, most of his opponents have names that end with Esq. I have friends who are attorneys, some of them are pretty damn smart. A very small few are actually principled.

But in general, Attorneys are trained to be paid advocates, hired guns. Their talents are bought by the highest bidder, to do their bidding, whether the attorney believes it's right or wrong. This is why having a government that is full of attorneys is a ripe target for corruption. These people are already trained and accepting of the notion of selling their principles and doing someone else's bidding.

The old saying, "if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it's a duck" holds quite true for judging our leaders. Regardless of what they tell you, their record is their integrity. Whether you support Ron Paul ideas or not, it's pretty damn hard to degrade the man's integrity by his voting record. And, if you think you've found an inconsistency in it, chances are you misunderstood or missed something.

Ron Paul has recognized for decades that what ails this country is government sprawl. People who whine that he did not support a program that would have benefited some group, are the same people who whine about getting a shot to make them healthier.

I think it's time we put a medical doctor in the office of the President, because this country needs some serious help. Dr. Ron Paul is the only candidate with the intelligence and integrity to actually perform the surgery.

Americans try to bomb Washington!

You heard it right! Washington is under attack. And it's under attack from the American public. Fed up with the bullshit and endless promises to nowhere but down, the American people have started building a bomb they hope to drop on Washington next year. This bomb's name is Ron Paul. It's a very expensive bomb but if it get's dropped, it's targeted right for the presidency. If it explodes on target, many of us hope it will spew truth and anti-corruption tactics into this decaying and infested zone which has eaten away most of the foundation of our country, the constitution. Thereafter it will transform into a machine which tears down the waste, bureaucracy and frees millions of Americans to again be responsible for themselves, inspiring new levels of intelligence in a population which was almost ready for it's government to literally think for them. Finally, restoring sound fiscal policy and saving the American people from a near total loss of wealth. Well, OK, maybe lofty expectations, but he's a definite shot in the right direction.

Like the Matrix, our government sees us all as batteries to feed it's ever growing hunger for power and control. "The One", Ron Paul, like Neo, has amassed an army of "last hope" supporters and has also amassed a complimentary enemy of sellout politicians, lobbiests and special interests who were continually confounded in their attempts to corrupt Ron Paul for his last 10 years in Congress.

Whether you like everything Ron Paul thinks and says or not, he is the only candidate we have you can truly vote FOR instead of trying to figure out who to vote against. However, I bet if you looked at the actions taken or present missions under the heading of being a "matter of National security" you would find most are actually a matter of corporate interests. Not having access to the catalog of these endeavors it is hard to substantiate this claim but consider this:

I would consider a grave MNS as the loss of manufacturing base in this country. Wouldn't you think that having to contract China to build our defense missiles and India to program them would be an MNS tragedy? Yet, that is precisely what we've let happen in effect. And while critics will defend the current state of weapons development as still being home grown, the fact is that we contract with multinational companies to build these devices and those companies have somehow shared certain technologies when necessary even though being forbid to do so. Whether it's missile technologies, super secret quiet submarine propeller designs or satellite technologies, not only has this information gotten to our potential enemies, but they now have the capacity to build it faster and cheaper than we now can, and we helped them do it!

I would also consider a grave MNS as having available and cheap energy. Yet, our MNS focus so far has been on making sure that corporate interests can supply us with that energy. So, all these related MNS missions have truly done is secure corporate interests and income and then GIVEN them the resources they've needed to do it. See EV-Street.blogspot.com

In summary, "matter's of National security" rarely appear to truly be matters which benefit American citizens, save those who are shareholders of the corporate interests those MNS's serve.

Democrat? No taxes? How is our government supposed to pay for anything? And the babies will cry, "how is our government supposed to support us and protect us?"

Well, fear not. I didn't say that the government couldn't have money anymore. But while some emerging groups are proposing a national sales tax to replace income tax (which I like), I like the idea of and simplicity of NO TAXES even more!

So, here's how it works:

1. American citizens pay no taxes.
2. Businesses pay no taxes.
3. Nobody pays taxes anymore, ever again.

That eliminates SO MUCH OVERHEAD, LAWYERS, PAPERWORK, TREE KILLING, TIME WASTED, Prison sentences, court time, taxpayer money - I mean MY GOD - consider the cost of it all!

4. Eliminate the federal reserve. I know, I know, you think I'm some sort of conspiracy nut. But there's a simple reason for it which is:

5. LET THE GOVERNMENT PRINT IT'S OWN MONEY WHEN IT NEEDS TO PAY FOR THINGS!

This way, no one, rich, poor, legal, illegal, individual, corporation, here in the USA or elsewhere in the world can avoid paying taxes! If you own an American dollar, when congress prints money for it's next round of expenses, you ultimately pay part of that AND SO DOES EVERY POLITICIAN who voted to spend it. Every time they vote to print money, the value of the American dollar will get diluted. Every time the GNP goes up, every person who holds a USA dollar is a share holder in that gain. Just imagine that - the dollar, since it's not worth anything in silver or gold anymore finally becomes like a "share" in the company USA.

Oh, did I mention the side effect of the National Debt going away? It's current knowledge that the first 120+ days of the American Worker's pay goes to pay taxes. Since the government runs a deficit budget, it has to borrow, so how much of that 120 days is just interest?

Before you run away screaming OMG - the dollar will fall everyday - what a stupid idea! First consider - what does that worry tell you about your government? The entire budgetary process should kept public so people can see who is responsible for subtracting from their wealth. Right now, when one senator piles on pork to a bill, it has little effect on another senator's pocket. But this would put all senators and congressmen in the same ship as us Americans (notice the distinction I made here). So, the faster they sink it, the faster they sink too.

It's a radical concept but think about it. No escaping, no enforcement and no infrastructure for enforcement and collection - that's a huge one right there. I'll wait for your comments.

CNN hides answer to prevent Virginia Tech Shooting

Yep, no surprise here. CNN had the historical evidence to help comfort people that there was a solution to stop the kind of killing rampage that went on at Virginia Tech. Oddly enough, the piece of evidence was only 5 years ago, at the Virginia Appalachian School of Law. There, in 2002 another deadly rampage began but two bold students took a risk and ran to their cars, retireved their own weapons and stopped the maniac. Here's the CNN story:

http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/01/16/law.school.shooting/

"Police said as Odighizuwa exited the building three other students grabbed and subdued him."

Good job CNN - just skip right over what actually happened. What actually worked. Why Virginia Tech is a slaughter house and Virginia School of Law isn't. Here's the COMPLETE and true story, see if you can see what legislators could have done to prevent most of this tragedy at Virginia Tech:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_School_of_Law_shooting

In Reno Nevada, Priscilla Ford went on a rampage and killed 6 people and wounded 20 others. She did it with a loaded... car (a Lincoln). So spin your wheels passing gun control laws.

Isn't it obvious to anyone with half a brain that the threat of resistance controls the path havoc takes? Guess what path that is... it's the path of least resistance! Let me make the analogy again, if you were determined to rob a bank, would you rob the bank you knew may have at least one person who is carrying a gun or would rob the bank where you knew nobody had a gun? How many gun stores get robbed by armed robbers? COME ON PEOPLE! YOUR BEST DEFENCE IS YOURSELF. ARM YOURSELF.

Virginia Tech Shooting - how to stop this.

I have moved to this site so if you didn't follow me from my previous blogs (http://www.techass.com/politics/tdhpol.php) then let me just tell you, I don't candy coat and I like to solve problems, not just wine about them.

I heard someone say, "32 dead, 20 some odd wounded? Wow, sounds like a good day in Iraq." Maybe this is a callus statement but true none-the-less. Why does this shit happen? Here's my analysis:

1. People are too soft. We've now grown two generations of weaklings who never even imagined the concept of the their teacher being able to hit them or their parents delivering corporal punishment. Soft people break under pressure.

2. Unescapable consequences. We have some pretty tough laws for some pretty minor crimes these days and the technology to pursue someone across the globe for them. When you trap an animal in a corner, expect the worst.

Now, I don't know what this kid's gripe was and I don't know if anyone ever will. Maybe he was good at FPS games and after he snapped figured he'd play one last game. I don't think that FPS games are the problem, but they do offer training for people who've got a problem.

So, here's my solutions to prevent these types of massacres:

1. AGAIN, more private citizens trained to carry concealed weapons. - May not have prevented it but it might have stopped it from going this far.
2. Repeal child abuse laws which have gone too far and removed the rights of parents to effectively discipline children. This will help develop stronger character children in the future.
3. Repeal lots of overly aggressive and oppressive laws. This will reduce the number of criminals in our society and create a safety valve for those who "blow" by allowing them to make the decision of a crucial sacrifice besides their own lives.

These three things would help prevent family shooting/suicides as well.

Remember, we have covered the solutions to our problems in stone (laws). Adding more stone (laws) will not solve our problems. It's time to sculpt our solutions which is done by cutting away the stone.

For my older posts, Click Here.
